Pyon-Chan Finger Puppet ( Heisei Era )

$5.00

Created in 1952 by Science and Society Pharmaceuticals (SSP), Pyon-chan was one of Japan’s earliest pharmaceutical mascots, setting the tone for a wave of animal-themed characters that would follow. But her name didn’t arrive right away. It wasn’t until 1963, through a public naming contest, that she was officially dubbed “Pyon-chan,” a nod to the Japanese onomatopoeia pyon-pyon the light, bouncy sound of a rabbit’s hop.
